When people drove by a quiet neighborhood in Lincoln County, Missouri, and noticed a woman mowing the lawn while her husband watched, they may have been tempted to judge this man. What kind of husband would force his wife to do labor in the yard while he just watched?
But those people don’t know the whole story. Adam Bosler snapped a picture of the couple and shared it on Facebook, the story later got a lot of views because of the sweet story Adam wrote.
Ryan and Jessica Armistead, friends of Adam’s. What you can’t see from the picture is that Ryan is sick. He is patiently waiting for a kidney transplant that he desperately needs, he goes to dialysis three times a week.
Most people would understand if Ryan just wanted to relax and take it easy, but Adam writes that the police officer and active member of his community “strives STILL to be what every man should be.”
That day Ryan went outside to mow the lawn. He was exhausted but determined to keep going. That’s when Jessica noticed that he was not doing well, she rushed outside to relieve him of his duty.
Even though he handed over the mower, Ryan didn’t want to accept the defeat. He insisted on walking beside Jessica as she finished the lawn for him.
“I think every husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend could really learn from this,” Adam wrote. “No matter what, they’re side by side, helping one another and never leaving the other one behind. If there’s anything I can learn from these good friends, it’s the loyalty they put forth together.”
Thousands of people have been touched by the love and loyalty displayed by the Armisteads. He decided to set up a YouCaring page to raise money to purchase a riding lawnmower for the hardworking couple.
Adam lets everyone know on the YouCaring page “THIS IS NOT A REQUEST from the Armisteads.” He wants to surprise the Armisteads with a riding lawnmower so Ryan could mow the lawn with no worries.
They diffidently deserve it!
