A proper mix of physical layout, monitoring and protocols by management
and staff are required to ensure as safe an environment as possible.
Buildings are attacked for various reasons. Among them are political,
ideological and domestic terrorism, employee or competition sabotage
and corporate espionage (primarily IT threats). Additionally, relatives
of employees have taken violence to the workplace when domestic
disputes get out of hand.
- A political change had taken place in a city, which had just
had a heated election. The incoming administration suspected sabotage
and destruction of files during the transition period. A security
review of some of the existing security placements and other forensic
means we were able to localize the problem and deal with it. We
were able to recommend some procedural and equipment changes which
eliminated the problem.
- Surveillance was used to assist a large utility related company
to detect and prevent further sabotage to its remote storage facilities.
